Apart from routine teaching, training & research activities, the department of community medicine has undertaken following academic activities during the last year

• World Health Day Quiz 2018 on 7^th April 2018 on the WHD Theme (Universal Health Coverage – Everyone everywhere) for Undergraduate students and interns under the aegis of Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine (IAPSM)
• Measles and Rubella (MR) Vaccination campaign training, monitoring and supportive supervision in Kheda District as well as 3 zones of AMC (south, east and north) by faculty members and interns from community medicine department
• Dr. Sheetal Vyas delivered a lecture on Prevention of Hypertension on 7^th October 2018 during the 11^th Academic meet on Recent advancement of blood pressure and HBP organized by APPI at AMC MET Medical College, Ahmedabad
• Faculty members namely Dr Mitali Solanki and Dr Himanshu Nayak from the department took active part in Effective Vaccine Management – training and assessment at state level from 16/01/19 to 25/01/19.
• Dr. Jay Sheth served as an Adjunct Resource Faculty member at the MCI Nodal Centre, NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad for the Advance Course in Medical Education (ACME)
• Faculty members from the department are actively involved in Regional Monitoring Team activities as RMT members in the assigned Kheda District and 3 zones of AMC
• Faculty members from the department are actively involved in the H1N1 death audit from the assigned 3 zones of AMC
• Undergraduate students undertake various research projects of public health importance as part of their health projects and faculty members provide guidance and support for carrying out the projects, which are finally submitted during the 7^th
• Faculty members from the department are actively involved in the Monitoring and supportive supervision activities of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPIP) as RMT members in the assigned Kheda District and 3 zones of AMC
• Faculty members and residents attended the Joint annual conference of IAPSM-GC (XXVI) & IPHA-GC (VIII) organized by BJMC, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad on 4-5 January 2019.
• Dr. Sheetal Vyas, Professor & Head chaired the first plenary session and judged scientific session for HM Patel trophy during the Joint annual conference of IAPSM-GC (XXVI) & IPHA-GC (VIII) organized by BJMC, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad
• Dr. Jay K. Sheth, played the role of Judge for the scientific session – 1 on oral presentation during the Joint annual conference of IAPSM-GC (XXVI) & IPHA-GC (VIII) organized by BJMC, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad
• Dr. Shraddha, Resident from community medicine department presented a poster on “Utilization of Maternal health services and awareness about various maternal health schemes amongst reproductive age group women of a slum area of surat” during the Joint annual conference of IAPSM-GC (XXVI) & IPHA-GC (VIII) organized by BJMC, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad
• A training was organized for the process evaluation of school health programmeon 22/1/2019 for faculty membersof the department
• Faculty members visited the field area for the process evaluation of the school health programme in 3 zones of AMC and KHEDA district during the month of January 2019.
• Dr. Urvish Joshi and DrPinkal Patel attended the one day training program for carrying out client satisfaction survey for school health program on 06/02/19
• A training was organized on client satisfaction survey regarding the school health programme on 11^th February 2019 for faculty members & interns of the department
• Faculty members visited the field area of Kheda district at the residence of selected sample beneficiaries for the in-depth interview and documenting the client satisfaction regarding the school health programme during February 2019

• Dr. Hemant Gameti and DrKrushnaModiattended the state level coordinators training for the State Family Health Survey (SFHS) on 21^st and 22^nd February 2019.
• Departmental level training of State Family Health Survey (SFHS) was organized for the interns and faculty members of the department on 5^th and 6^th March 2019.
• Dr. Rachna kapoor, Dr. Himanshu Nayak, Dr. Hemant Gameti and Dr. Krushna Modi played the role of trainer for the State Family Health Survey (SFHS) for the Nursing tutors, students and team leaders of the SFHS at District hospital Kheda from 7/3/2019 to 9/3/2019
• Faculty members from the department played the role of field monitors and supervisors for the State Family Health Survey (SFHS) in the Kheda district during March 2019
• Dr. Jay K. Sheth is actively involved in the National Quality Assurance Standards certification of 5 Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
• Dr. Jay K. Sheth, contributed as an author for a subchapter on “Hospital Infection Control & its prevention” in the IAPSM’s Textbook of Community Medicine
• Dr. Sheetal Vyas, contributed as an expert reviewer for the IAPSM’s Textbook of Community Medicine which was released on 8^th March 2019 during the Annual National Conference of the Indian Association of the Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM)
